Classic RPG Pillars of Eternity has been PC-only for a long time, but Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will change that. Scheduled for an Aug. 29 release date, Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition is now available for pre-order.
Billed as “the fantasy standard that set new standards on PC” in its console announcement trailer, Pillars of Eternity launched to wide acclaim for its “deep customization,” “endless choice” and “epic adventure” after a highly successful Kickstarter that crowdsourced over $4 million. Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition features both digital and physical retail release.
The game takes place in the fantasy world of Eora. You, the protagonist, must find a solution to a divine blight that has caused all children in the world to be born without souls. Along the way, you will also discover why you, a “Watcher” with the ability to read souls both living and dead, have awakened into the world. At over 70 hours of runtime, the game’s RPG roots make for a rich, text-heavy world supplemented by challenging tactical combat and pen-and-ink illustrated storyboards.
Pillars of Eternity is inspired by classics like Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment and includes the following features (via Steam):
Play as any one of six races: Human, Aumaua, Dwarf, Elf, Godlike and Orlan.
Utilize five core skills to overcome any situation: Stealth, Athletics, Lore, Mechanics and Survival.
Deep character customization: Build a character as one of eleven classes such as Barbarian, Chanter, Cipher, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Priest, Ranger, Rogue and Wizard.
Sculpt your own story: Side with various factions using a reputation system, where your actions and choices have far reaching consequences.
Explore a rich and diverse world: Beautiful pre-rendered environments laced with an engaging story and characters bring the world to life.
Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition includes the original base game as well as its expansions, The White March – Parts I & II, all of which feature enhanced UI and controller support. The game’s many points of interest include an epic isometric universe filled with in-game factions and interesting party members, a bevy of character creation options to launch your personal story, and all major updates from the PC version, including expanded party AI options, new difficulty levels, a raised level cap and more.
