As we enter the second round of the NHL playoffs, EA Sports has officially announced and has started releasing information for NHL 17. While no gameplay footage can be seen, we now have a rough idea on what EA Sports wants to do with this year’s entry.

As the video above says, NHL 17 will expand on popular game modes and feature even deeper customization options than before. Based on what we see in the trailer, this means players will be able to create a team, a logo, a stadium and manage even more details than ever before.

NHL 17’s cover athlete vote is also going on right now. We’re still in Round 1, so make sure you get your votes in now. The race for the cover athlete spot this year is between Joe Pavelski, Anze Kopitar, Aleksander Barkov, Jamie Benn, Connor McDavid, Jakub Voracek, Vladimir Tarasenko and Victor Hedman. Round 1 will end on May 2, with Round 2 starting on May 3. The final round of voting will end on May 16.

The ultimate winner of the cover athlete vote will be revealed at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas. Also at the event, EA will reveal the first look at NHL 17 gameplay footage. The NHL Awards are hosted by actor Will Arnett this year, and will take place on June 22.

So what do you think? Are you excited to see what EA Sports has in store for NHL 17? Who do you want to win this year’s cover vote? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
