Facebook has come a long way since its debut in 2004 and with time, the social media platform has gotten tons of new features. For those who miss a simpler Facebook with just the essentials, there is a Google Chrome extension just for you.

Called Flatbook, the Chrome extension hides ads and any extraneous parts of the page like the “Your Games” and “Recommended Games” sections in the sidebar. Also eliminated are any suggested people or groups. The “Trending” section in the upper righthand corner can be customized so users can curate content they want to see -- say, tech news only or just entertainment.

The extension also places easily identifiable colorful icons on the left so users can navigate through photos, friends lists and more with less trouble. And, according to the extension’s creator, simplifying Facebook makes it work faster.

LifeHacker reports that Social Fixer is a more powerful tool that allows the user to customize nearly every element of the social media platform, but Flatbook has to its merit a simpler approach for a clean interface.
