As a nod to the epic Fallout 4 release that Fallout Shelter preceded, players can now craft clothing and weapons! This is great because a lot of the things you will craft are either rare or legendary items, which are difficult or impossible to find in the Wastelands. The weapon crafting room is good for dwellers with high endurance. I am not sure about the clothing crafting room yet. Both players with existing vaults or new vaults can use the new crafting rooms to craft clothing and weapons.

How To Build Workshops

  • Make sure you have updated to the latest version of the game.
  • Open a vault. In the upper right-hand corner of the screen is a hammer icon. Tap on it to see all rooms you can build.
  • You should see the Weapon Workshop (between Radio Studio and Weight Room) and Outfit Workshop (between Classroom and Fitness room) added.
  • The Weapon Workshop requires at least 322 dwellers to get it and costs 1200 caps
  • The Outfit Workshop requires 32 dwellers and 1200 caps.

How To Craft Weapons And Clothing

  • Drag at least one dweller into your workshop.
  • The game will do a series of pop-up screens when you first build your workshop that say they’ve given you some junk and recipes for crafting to get started.
  • Tap on the crafting room and you should see a wrench at the bottom that opens up a menu of items you can craft.
  • Tap on the one you want to craft
  • Your dweller will get started.
  • Putting more dwellers in a crafting room cuts the time it takes to craft items just like in power, water and food rooms.

How To Get More Recipes And Junk For Crafting

  • Dead raiders give recipes– when raiders attack your vault, sometimes you can find a recipe on them. They can drop both rare and legendary recipes this definitely makes killing them a lot more satisfying.
  • Wasteland Exploration and Lunch Boxes yield junk – junk can be found in lunch boxes on a fifth card that was added to the update or in the wastelands. According to the game tips, the further out in the Wasteland you go, the better the junk you find. And better junk, of course crafts better items so make sure to send out your highly trained dwellers for those long expeditions!

We’ve only just got started on playing with the new crafting abilities so as we learn some tips and tricks for more efficient or better crafting, we’ll be sure to add them. If you’ve found some useful crafting tips yourself, please share them in the comments below!
