If there's one thing we learned for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it's that nothing lasts forever. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's combat mechanics may be annoying for many players, particularly during the beginning of the game where rusty weapons and weak clubs easily break within minutes of combat. However, this is Zelda's way of making players actively switch up their playstyles and not get too attached to any specific type of weapon.

Because of this, some players may feel anxiety when they're using some of their items. A mob of Moblins can sometimes be frustrating to take down, but would you be willing to whip out that fancy Master Sword, which you meant to save for a boss fight, to hack at these pests? What if your sword irreparably breaks? And does the Master Sword break in Breath of the Wild?

Thankfully, we're relieved to tell you that the answer is, "No." The Master Sword possesses infinite durability. And once its energy is depleted, players must only wait for a cooldown period of a few minutes before the Master Sword is available again.

The legendary Master Sword is known across the lands of Hyrule as the one weapon that can seal away darkness. Obtaining the Master Sword in Breath of the Wild will require Link to embark on The Hero's Sword quest within the Korok Forest. Check out our Breath of the Wild Master Sword locations guide to learn how to get it.
