FX is having fun releasing decoy trailers for American Horror Story Season 6 in order to conceal its theme, but the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, has revealed a tiny tidbit about possible future seasons of the horror anthology.

Murphy recently told The Hollywood Reporter that a lot of what will take place in Season 6 will build connections to future seasons. “You'll see it this season, and then you'll really see it after this season. We lay a lot of pipe, and you'll see it explode in seasons seven and eight,” he told THR.

The showrunner noted that future seasons of American Horror Story have not yet been picked up by FX, but that he has a plan for having the series unfold similar to the The Twilight Zone. The black-and-white horror anthology ran from 1959 to 2003, on and off, and developed its own “inner mythology.” It is similar to now, how all seasons of American Horror Story take place in the same universe. Viewers have seen characters from prior seasons show up in later seasons, along with themes carrying over from season to season.

Murphy told THR he would like to continue American Horror Story as long as there are ideas and momentum. So far, it seems like Season 6 may follow a storyline based on the Croatoan mystery from America’s colonial period. However, recent trailers have featured a Children of the Corn motif, an interestingly placed eye and a back-arching alien abduction.

American Horror Story premieres Sept. 14 at 10 p.m. on FX.
