After several years of no updates from Arkane Studios, they have made their intentions known in a recent response to concerns regarding "Marvel's Blade" development.

Due to the minimal information available about it, many fans and speculators thought that it became dormant and has already been canceled by the studio.

'Marvel's Blade' Developer Responds to Cancelation Rumors

"Marvel's Blade" has been one of the quieter entries on Xbox's upcoming games slate since its announcement at The Game Awards in 2023, and that silence has been fueling cancellation speculation for months, as per GameRant.

However, Arkane Studios has now stepped in with a response, though it is about as brief as the updates on the game itself have been.

Jean-Luc Monnet, who serves as lead concept artist and art director assistant at Arkane Studios, responded to a post on X asking for some kind of update on "Marvel's Blade."

Rather than writing out a formal statement, Monnet replied with a GIF from the television series "Breaking Bad," showing Walter White saying, "Let us cook," which is a cryptic way of telling fans that the team is still actively working on the project.

According to GameRant, Xbox has seen several high-profile cancellations in recent years, including the reboot of "Perfect Dark" and Monolith's "Wonder Woman."

Fans who have been following "Marvel's Blade" closely had genuine reason to worry, and Monnet's post addresses that anxiety head-on, even without spelling it out in words.

Arkane Studios Continues 'Marvel's Blade' Work

"Marvel's Blade" was announced in 2023 and will put players in the role of the Daywalker himself in an adventure set in Paris. Blade will spend the game hunting down vampire foes, and it will take place from a third-person perspective.

The brief hints provided by Arkane imply that Blade will have plenty of options to dispatch his enemies, including his trusty sword.

The game is being built using Arkane Lyon's Void Engine and published by Bethesda Softworks, keeping it within the Xbox umbrella. Arkane Studios is best known for the "Dishonored" series and "Prey," making it a somewhat unexpected but intriguing choice for a Marvel superhero project.

The studio's history with immersive sim design and creative combat systems fits well with the kind of stylized, methodical vampire-hunting experience that Blade's character has demonstrated in the comics and movies.

'Marvel's Blade's' Minimal Updates

Since the 2023 announcement trailer, almost nothing has been shared publicly about the game's development. No gameplay footage, no release window, and no major reveals have surfaced since.

Based on everything known about Xbox's plans for the next few years, it is a safe bet that "Marvel's Blade" will not be released until sometime in 2027 at the earliest. In the meantime, fans can find Blade featured as a playable character in ensemble titles like "Marvel's Midnight Suns," "LEGO Marvel Super Heroes," and "Marvel Rivals."

On the other hand, "Marvel's Wolverine" is set to arrive on PS5 in September 2026, and the two games targeting different platforms mean there is no direct competition between them.

Arkane has not shared when the next proper look at "Marvel's Blade" will come, but Monnet's post at least confirms that something is still being made.
