FromSoftware recently bagged the Game of the Year award for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice at The Game Awards. However, the work never ends as the acclaimed developer might consider releasing its next title, Elden Ring, as early as June. Elden Ring was first announced at E3 2019 and players might begin playing the game earlier than expected.

The news became evident when FromSoftware's website was advertising New Year greeting cards for players. These cards featured Sekiro, Metal Wolf Chaos XD, or Elden Ring branding. The website states that Sekiro and Metal Wolf Chaos XD released in 2019 and Elden Ring will release in June. It was also noted that Elden Ring would release in June in a Target listing article by Gamesradar.

Up until now, FromSoftware has only shown us CGI trailers and videos for Elden Ring and the elephant in the room has been kept hidden for the perfect time. Therefore, there is very little we know about what the game is all about and its contents. Nevertheless, the game does share some graphical and lore resemblance with the Souls series.

Looking back at how FromSoftware has managed game releases, director Hidetaka Miyazaki has gotten quite good. Since 2011, the company has managed to release Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2, Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, as well as a few other games. The most interesting part of all this process is that there hasn't really been a drop in quality of work. In fact, FromSoftware has only gotten better with time.

Considering that Elden Ring might release close to the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 launch, it is possible that the game could support cross-generation gaming. Eventually, FromSoftware did bring Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 to Xbox One and PS4 and the Dark Souls remaster is also made it to the Nintendo Switch. However, Elden Ring has only been confirmed to release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

If Elden Ring releases in June, players will not have any shortage of Souls-like games in 2020. Alongside Elden Ring, we may also get Nioh 2, and Lords of the Fallen 2 is still in development.
