James Gunn, the director of the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, confirmed there will be a post-credits scene at the end of the latest adventure starring Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot and Rocket Raccoon. Judging from his choice of words, it’s going to be a must-see scene for Marvel fans. Check out Gunn’s tweet below:

Not surprisingly, Gunn didn’t reveal any spoilers about what the post-credits scene would contain, or which characters might make an appearance. Many fans are hoping the Guardians 2 post-credits scene will be a teaser for Avengers: Infinity War, which may be the most likely scenario, given that we already know that there’s a Guardians / Avengers crossover in the MCU’s future.

However, given Guardians of the Galaxy’s self-anointed status as the oddball among the Marvel movies, we wouldn’t be surprised if Gunn goes in a very different direction for the Guardians 2 post-credits scene. (Remember Howard the Duck from the end of the first movie?) He may well choose to catch fans off guard. It’s worth bearing in mind that Infinity War doesn’t come out until May 2018, but there are three other Marvel films due out between now and then: Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther. The first two are all but guaranteed box-office smashes, so Guardians 2 might be a chance to create some early hype and buzz for Black Panther’s MCU debut.

If the Guardians 2 post-credits scene does go the Avengers route, Thor is the most obvious choice, given he’s the one member of the current squad capable of intergalactic travel. We can’t get enough Thor, even if his hair sucks now. But you know what would be even more exciting? A little Peter Parker cameo! We already know Spider-Man is coming to Infinity War, and the upbeat look and tone of what we know about Homecoming so far suggests a comfy fit with the lighthearted, candy-colored Guardians universe.
