AMC will keep making The Walking Dead TV series as long as fans want to know what happens next. Hopefully, this means the show will extend past Season 8.
The Walking Dead director Greg Nicotero recently spoke to ComicBook.com about AMC confirming the show’s eighth season. Nicotero says the show’s longevity is a testament to how dedicated the cast, crew and fans are to the show.
"People really love being on this journey and that's important and it's exciting to be seven years in, now eight, to be able to continue to tell our story and have people want to know what's going to happen next," Nicotero told ComicBook.com. "It's the greatest gift you can give any storyteller. Which is to say yeah we want to know what happens next. It's great. I'm proud and delighted to be able to continue to tell this story because we've got a lot more story to tell."
The Walking Dead fans are dedicated, and even those who haven’t read Robert Kirkman’s comics are excited to see what’s next in The Walking Dead Season 7. Charlie Collier, president of AMC, Sundance TV and AMC Studios, confirmed The Walking Dead Season 8 in a news release praising Kirkman and showrunner Scott Gimple’s work on the show.
“Eeny, meeny, miny, more,” said Charlie Collier, president of AMC, Sundance TV and AMC Studios in a news release. “What a joy to partner with Robert Kirkman, Scott M. Gimple and some of the hardest-working people in television to bring The Walking Dead to the fans. And, most important, thanks to those fans for breathing life into this remarkable series right along with us.”
The Walking Dead can essentially go on forever. In the comic books, it seems like Carl might take over as leader one day. He’s growing up in this world and seeing his father handle tough situations. Carl is also learning hard lessons from Negan and other characters he’s encountered. How do you think The Walking Dead will end? Let us know in the comments below.
The Walking Dead Season 7 premieres Oct. 23 on AMC.
