AMC has announced the official premiere date for The Walking Dead Season 8. Really, all we want to know is who will die fighting Rick’s war.

The Walking Dead Season 8 returns Oct. 22. If you’re not caught up on the show, Rick finally stood up to Negan and rallied other communities to his cause. Rick convinced The Hilltop, The Kingdom and some of the women at Oceanside to help him take down Negan.

Unfortunately, fighting for Rick and Negan comes at a cost. The Scavengers turned against Rick at the last second to help Negan. The unforeseen betrayal led to many people of Alexandria dying or getting injured. Fortunately for Rick, Maggie and King Ezekiel came through to give Alexandria the win. Negan was outnumbered and forced to retreat.

Many people died in The Walking Dead Season 7. The show lost Glenn, Abraham, Spencer, Sasha, Richard and Ben because of Negan’s introduction in the show. To throw salt in the wounds, Eugene is now working for The Saviors as the new brains of the operation. Negan recognized he needs someone as smart as Eugene if he wants to survive. And Eugene might be the key to winning Negan’s war.

As for what to expect in the show’s eighth season, showrunner Scott M. Gimple told Entertainment Weekly upcoming episodes will dive deep into the All Out War arc from the comic books. The Walking Dead Season 7 was all about laying out the groundwork and fans will see the drama unfold in the next season.

“We have basically set the stage for All Out War,” Gimple told EW. “Negan’s said it, everybody has seen they’re in it. It will play out quickly and propulsively and attentively and will shift around the focus quite a bit between the different places and battlegrounds and characters and communities.”

And Rick won’t be afraid to fight back. He’s no longer scared of Negan and knows he has to stand up for Alexandria at all costs. “His swagger is definitely back,” Gimple told EW. “But it’s a measured swagger. It’s a focused swagger. He absolutely has it and you will see it in episode 1.”

Will Rick defeat Negan and bring peace amongst the communities? Let us know in the comments below.
