Thanks to the latest issue of Game Informer, we now know a ton of new information about Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. The expansion to Uncharted 4 won’t have Nathan Drake in it, but will feature several other familiar faces.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will take place entirely in one country: India. Chloe, one of the two stars of The Lost Legacy , is half Indian and will be returning to the country after being away for many years. Along with dealing with Chloe’s cultural heritage, The Lost Legacy will also explore the relationship she has with her father. Hinduism will also play a major role in the plot, and Naughty Dog has gone to great lengths to ensure cultural accuracy and respect.

Tagging along on the journey with Chloe is Nadine, the former leader of the mercenary group Shoreline. If you’re wondering why Nadine would leave such a powerful position, or what happened to all the treasure she scored at the end of Uncharted 4 , we’ll find out in The Lost Legacy . Nadine has been hired thanks to her experience with the game’s main villain, a man named Asav.

Chloe, Nadine and Asav are all on the hunt for a jewel called The Tusk of Ganesh. Asav, claiming to be a descendant of the Hoysala Empire, thinks he has a right to the Tusk. Obviously, the veteran treasure hunters disagree with these claims. Along the way, expect some cameos from favorite characters throughout the series.

While initially distrustful of each other, Chloe and Nadine will also form a bond over the course of The Lost Legacy . This will be reflected in the gameplay, with Nadine starting out not helping Chloe much in combat. As the game progresses, Nadine will become more and more of a helpful partner to have around.

Timeline-wise, The Lost Legacy will take place roughly six months after the events of Uncharted 4 . The reason for going with this time, as well as with the characters of Chloe and Nadine, was because there weren’t too many other options. Drake’s life had pretty much already been mapped out to this point thanks to the flashbacks in Uncharted 3 and Uncharted 4 , and a Sully origin story wouldn’t have worked thanks to his years spent in the Navy.

In terms of gameplay, many of the features from Uncharted 4 make a return, such as driving vehicles and using the rope to swing around levels. The jeep that you drive also comes equipped with a winch, so expect to have to deal with those kinds of puzzles again. A new lockpicking minigame has been added, so the action won’t be entirely cut and paste from Uncharted 4 .

While all this is exciting news, the one big question we all have is when we can actually play The Lost Legacy . Unfortunately, Naughty Dog has yet to reveal a release date, but does say the plan is to release by the end of the year. Seeing as how delays plagued Uncharted 4 , it’s possible this could be getting pushed to 2018.

So what do you think? Are you excited to play through Uncharted: The Lost Legacy ? Are you sad to know this may be the last Uncharted game ever ? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
