Ubisoft Gives Stadia Owners Access to Titles on PC

A bit of good news.
A bit of good news. Ubisoft

With the Stadia shutting down less than a month from now, a lot of gaming studios are offering players a chance to continue playing the games they bought on a different platform. That’s also the case with Ubisoft, taking steps to make sure that the fun doesn’t stop even when Stadia is no more.

The studio shared that those who own Ubisoft titles with Stadia or want to continue cloud gaming through Ubisoft+ Multi-Access need not worry. That’s because Ubisoft will be helping ease the transition to other platforms, as well as games that offer cross-progression through Ubisoft Connect.

Those who own Ubisoft titles on Stadia will get PC versions of the games for free, and these games are automatically added to the players’ library, courtesy of Ubisoft Connect. However, any virtual currency in these games won’t be transferred from Stadia to other platforms. That means they must use them before Stadia shuts down on January 18. Items owned though remain accessible but only for games with cross-progression.

Those subscribed to Ubisoft+ Multi-Access through Google Stadia should receive an email that contains instructions on how to sign up to the Ubisoft+ website. There will also be a voucher allowing one month free access to Ubisoft+.

Players in the US who are subscribed through Ubisoft can continue streaming Ubisoft+ games through Amazon Luna. Meanwhile, those outside the US get a discount on Ubisoft+ Multi-Access for six months. That’s not all since all Ubisoft customers on Stadia, whether owners or subscribers, also receive a coupon code for one free month of GeForce NOW Priority Membership. This allows them to keep streaming Ubisoft games across a wide variety of devices.

Shutting Down

It was in September 2033 when Stadia Vice President and General Manager Phil Harrison revealed that Google was shutting down the consumer gaming service Stadia. The main reason was that it didn't reach the expected traction with users. While the service is scheduled to end January 18, 2023, the process of winding down has started.

By November 2022, it was announced that refunds were now being processed for:

  • Stadia hardware purchases made through the Google Store
    • Stadia Controller
    • Founder's Edition
    • Premiere Edition
    • Play and Watch with Google TV packages
  • Software transactions through the Stadia store
    • Games
    • Add-on purchases

However, Stadia Pro subscriptions were not included so players can continue to play games in pro with no additional charges until the date of the shutdown.

What about you? Have you received your refund for Stadia?
