Twitter announced on Wednesday that a new feature on its platform will allow users to take videos and share them in direct messages. The feature is accessible through the “camera” icon and will be rolled out globally for iOS and Android devices.

“Starting today, you can capture & share videos in your Direct Messages,” @twitter announced. “It’s rolling out globally on iOS & Android.”

This feature will be functional for web and mobile users, although those accessing the platform on twitter.com will not be able to record video directly to the website. From the Twitter app, users simply “ tap the camera icon to take a photo or record a video, or attach one from your device gallery.” The camera icon will allow uploads from a computer for web users.

The video support feature is one of many recent changes made by the San Francisco-based company. Twitter announced its users could send GIFs in tweets and direct messages on Wednesday. Earlier this month, the micro-blogging platform switched over to an algorithmic timeline which steps away from ranking tweets on chronology and focuses on timeliness and quality.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey told Forbes earlier this year that the company would be investing in live streaming video.

“We’re focused now on what Twitter does best: live,” Dorsey said. “Hearing about and watching a live event unfold is the fastest way to understand the power of Twitter. Twitter has always been considered a ‘second screen’ for what’s happening in the world, and we believe we can become the first screen for everything that’s happening now.”
