'Titanfall: Frontline' Online Card Game Canceled, Not With A Bang, But With A Whimper

Titanfall: Frontline has been cancelled, that's the card game if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Online card games aren’t the money makers they were a few years ago anymore. Titanfall: Frontline , a mobile TCG based off the robot riding and shooting simulator, has been shut down. Titanfall: Frontline never actually made it out of the gate, being shut down before even making it out of closed beta. The servers will officially be taken down Jan. 20, 2017.

On Friday, the Titanfall: Frontline Facebook page posted a final update : “We’ve learned an incredible amount in the beta test of Titanfall: Frontline, but in the end felt the experience wasn't ready to deliver the intense action-packed gameplay synonymous with Titanfall. While it’s never easy to cancel a game, we’re excited to take some of the concepts we saw resonate with players and build off of them in future Titanfall mobile games.”

Titanfall: Frontline hadn’t updated their Facebook page since November so it isn’t that shocking to see the game fold. The goodbye post has 22 likes – my high school prom pictures are more popular than that.

Creating a successful online trading card game isn’t easy. There are dozens of other TCGs on every app store trying to get the same player base as you. Sadly, the robots couldn’t cut it and now those Titans are rotting away in the internet graveyard.

If you need a mobile card game fix, try Plants vs. Zombies: Heroes . It’s not as mythical as Hearthstone , but it does have the unique gameplay and mechanics that Titanfall: Frontlines creators so desperately wanted to capture.
