Thrustmaster was at E3 this year, showing off how well their latest peripherals can work in a VR game. Two demos were available to try out, Elite: Dangerous using a flight stick and Project CARS with a steering wheel.

Elite: Dangerous came ready with the T.16000M FCS HOTAS. This flight stick comes packed with 4 axes, 16 action buttons with “braille”-style physical button identification, one 8-way point of view hat switch and an ergonomic trigger. Also included is the TWCS throttle, which is used to speed up and slow down your ship.

On the automobile side, Thrustmaster had the TMX steering wheel of Project CARS, which features force feedback rumble. Both demos made use of the Oculus Rift to really make it feel like you were in the cockpit of either a Formula 1 car or spaceship. It feels even more immersive when you’re moving a flight stick or changing gears in real life, while at the same time your in-game avatar is mimicking the motions you’re doing perfectly.

The Thrustmaster peripherals featured are compatible with PC and Xbox One. PS4 Thrustmaster peripherals are available, but were not tested.

So what do you think? Are you interested in getting a fancy Thrustmaster steering wheel or flight stick? What game would you really want to simulate with a VR headset? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
