The Suits Season 6 premiere was the culmination of everything terrible that’s happened at Pearson Specter Litt since the series premiere in 2011, when Harvey offered Mike a job. Suits Season 5 left off with Mike walking inside prison walls and Harvey helplessly watching him sacrifice himself for the firm. Season 6 episode 1 picks back up at the same moment.

While Mike gets acclimated in prison, Jess, Donna and a hostile Louis all panic back at Pearson Specter Litt. Rachel and Harvey meet for a drink and reminisce about when they first met Mike, before they head to the office to calm everyone down. Jessica finds out there is a class-action lawsuit against the firm for every case Mike has ever worked on. Even more unsettling is that all employees have abandoned ship -- lawyers, assistants, receptionists, accountants and even the shoeshine guy.

Back in prison, Mike meets maybe the first person in his entire life (aside from Harvey) who can keep up with his mind games: Counselor Julius Rowe. It’s unclear whose side Rowe is on, but he quickly puts Mike in his place. Mike is now feeling pretty damn vulnerable heading back to his cell. He meets his cellmate, Frank, whose willingness to open up causes Mike to prematurely do the same. When Frank offers Mike a cell phone, he declines, but as the two begin to get to know each other Mike’s urge to talk to Rachel grows. He asks to just send one text to assure Rachel he’s okay.

Harvey considers abandoning ship all together, and Jessica starts doubting her ability to run a firm. Rachel gives them both a pep talk, then Jessica offers a surprising solution: marijuana. “It’s the only way,” she says as she goes to grab the weed from her office. Once they’re all nice and toasty, they recruit Louis to join. Harvey finally apologizes for getting everyone into this mess.

Louis continues to try and find a way to contact all the old lawyers, but the one IT guy left alerts the partners they are being hacked by all the old lawyers looking to steal information about all the firm’s clients. They realize they need to move all the firm’s money elsewhere and invest it. That’s when Louis has a million-dollar idea: If they use all the firm’s money to pay to fight the class-action lawsuit, clients can’t sue for their money back because the firm won’t have any.

Worried about Mike, Rachel calls Danbury Prison to ask if he’s okay. They can’t give her any updates, and she’s devastated to learn she can’t visit Mike for over a month. She receives Mike’s text of assurance, but unbeknownst to Mike, he spoke too soon.

A prison guard opens their cell door and Frank leaves. Mike, confused as to why his new roommate is leaving, asks what the hell is happening. Frank reveals everything he told Mike was a ploy to get dirt on Harvey, the man responsible for his 13 years in prison.

How does Frank know Harvey? Executive Producer Aaron Korsh told TV Line we’ll find out July 20 on the next episode, titled "Accounts Payable." Did you like the premiere's big twist? Let us know in the comments below!
