Worried your friends are deleting you from Facebook? There’s an app that can track your friends and notify you if a friend decides to take you off of their social networking list.

Called Who Deleted Me, the app tracks a user’s friends list, notifying them when new friends are added or deleted. It works by creating a list of friends when you first log in and then using the list as a baseline for future reference.

Currently, Facebook does not notify users when they have been defriended. Should a user notice a friend missing, there is no way to distinguish whether a friend has simply deactivated or whether they have taken the bold step of defriending. With Who Deleted Me, not only do users get a notification, but they can sort out who deactivated.

Unfortunately for users, there is no way for the app to work retroactively: it cannot look into the past to see who has unfriended you.

The app made headlines last summer but was ultimately removed from distribution after a request from Facebook.

“Unfortunately, due to a request by Facebook, Who Deleted Me is no longer available on any platform. If you have a Who Deleted Me browser extension or application installed it will no longer function,” wrote creator, Anthony Kuske, on the company’s site at the time. “Who Deleted Me was intended to be a useful tool to enhance users’ Facebook experience, but Facebook did not see it the same way.”

The formerly free app is now back for at a price: $0.99 per download. Who Deleted Me is available for iOS and Android devices in the form of a smartphone app and is available as a Firefox and Chrome plug-in.
