The entertainment world was rocked on Tuesday when it was revealed the Star Wars: Rogue One the next installment in the Star Wars cinematic universe — has been ordered to carry out a month of expensive reshoots in July. Apparently Disney execs weren’t too satisfied with director Gareth Edward’s first cut after it failed to impress at “test screenings.” Now, many are left wondering: do I actually want to see Rogue One? And, if so, when the hell will it come out now?

There’s nothing to worry about in terms of the latter question. Star Wars: Rogue One is still set to release on Dec. 16. Deadline has the scoop:

To clarify, there were no test screenings and rather a re-shoot decision was made after Disney suits and producers watched the initial cut of the highly anticipated first spinoff.

According to sources, the first cut was lacking the edge that Force Awakens had, and the story needs to jell. The film’s December 16 release date will not be affected, according to one insider — and with Comic-Con fast approaching, hopefully the studio might be able to tease fans with at least a little something.

Pretty good to hear considering the media implosion that went down following yesterday’s news break. What’s especially interesting is the fact that “there were no test screenings” when the opposite of that statement seemed to be the consensus circulating around Twitter and various outlets.

We want to be clear: Deadline is almost certainly correct in that regard — it seems a bit early to roll out test screenings with still half a year to go until Rogue One’s release. Secondly, regardless of whether there actually were advance screeners at this stage, reshoots on blockbuster movies are totally common, if not expected. When you’re dealing with that much money, suits and producers are more than likely to dish out a little extra to ensure a film performs well at the box office.

That being said, Star Wars fans shouldn’t worry too much about Rogue One’s fate. Disney knows how to make good films -- The Force Awakens and the Marvel Cinematic Universe more than prove that. Sit back, relax and prepare for that new trailer that’s likely to debut in July during San Diego Comic Con.

Star Wars: Rogue One arrives in theaters Dec. 16.
