'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Trailer Hints: What To Expect From Celebration Teaser

Star Wars News Net revealed new details about three specific shots in the Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer due to be shown at Star Wars Celebration Orlando next month, possibly including a familiar but never-before-seen planet. But we warn you to temper your expectations, because these aren’t huge “who’s related to whom” kinds of spoilers.

Citing an anonymous source whose past information has been proven credible, SWNN claims the following will feature in the upcoming teaser footage.

  • Some kind of important procession and feast.
  • Shot of “a large city of some sorts.”
  • A new spacecraft, “or an X-Wing of sorts,” zipping past a blue planet.

Sigh. Not only could those images be taken from the trailer for virtually any Star Wars movie, they could seemingly come from any space movie at all. But that won’t stop us, and presumably other Star Wars fans, from putting every little detail under the microscope. The team behind The Last Jedi is keeping a much tighter lid on the production than did the team behind The Force Awakens, so we can’t do much more than speculate at this point.

The first of these is the most interesting, and the most open-ended. On first glance, this seems to refer to a funeral for Han Solo, possibly on his home planet of Corellia. Then again, we don’t know much about Corellia or Solo’s reputation there. The planet’s Wookieepedia entry leads us to believe it's a large, densely populated place in the galaxy’s Core Worlds, not the Outer Rim where most of the action of previous Star Wars films has taken place. While pretty much anything would be more fun than Han’s funeral (sniff), we’re kind of hoping this “procession and feast” is part of some weird occult ceremony Kylo Ren throws to honor his granddad.

As far as the second item, a large city, this could also be somewhere on the above-mentioned planet Corellia, most likely the capital, Coronet City. We could also see Kylo and his First Order brethren back in Coruscant, which is presumably still relevant in intergalactic politics even 30 years after the fall of the Empire. Still, we’ve seen Coruscant enough already, especially in the Prequel Trilogy, so this wouldn’t be a particularly show-stopping image to show in the Star Wars Celebration trailer. Corellia and Coronet City would match up neatly with Episode 8 set leaks from last March in Dubrovnik, which show a more modern, densely populated environment than the typical Star Wars “desert shithole” fare.

The third item doesn’t tell us much. If it’s an X-Wing or something similar, we know for sure it’s a small ship, not something easily confused with a big freighter like the Falcon or a First Order cruiser. We think it’s likely helmed by the best pilot in the Resistance: Poe Dameron. Could BB8 be sitting shotgun?

Curiously, this preliminary description doesn’t seem to touch on the scene from The Force Awakens that’s been lingering on the minds of most Star Wars fans: the encounter between Luke and Rey. Will r/StarWarsLeaks fans get the “baby girl” moment they’ve been dreaming of? That remains to be seen.
