Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes Grand Master’s Training Event will be returning in approximately three weeks, according to an in-game screenshot posted on the game’s subreddit, /r/SWGalaxyOfHeroes. The event was first released earlier this February, in an update that brought along some other new features, including the Shard Shop.

Successfully completing the Grand Master’s Training Event is the only way a Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes player can unlock a 7-star Grand Master Yoda playable character, with players having to defeat a total of seven stages as their challenge. On each successful stage completion, player receive an equivalently starred Yoda.

Players’ reaction to the event has been mixed, with the latter levels being especially difficult without purchasing additional crystals or other in-game microtransactions. One redditor, who posted an analysis on the Yoda character and the Grand Master’s Training Event, said that the last stage requires almost chromium exclusive Jedi to beat.

Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes players have also had a mixed reaction to the Yoda character himself, with Yoda being described as, “not consistent in terms of offense and defense, but I have to admit - he is soooo much fun,” said /u/Va-Nah on reddit.

The aforementioned analysis of Grand Master Yoda summarized the character as a glass cannon, listing the character’s strong offensive abilities, which includes an Area of Effect (AoE) special and both a physical and special single target attack, as a positive. However, Yoda’s low health pool, his resource draining nature and a need for gear to be efficient, not to mention issues with his A.I., successfully offset his high attack power to an uncertain middle ground of the character’s value.

Grand Master Yoda’s abilities include:

  • ‘Atari,’ a physical single target attack that buffs Yoda with a 25 percent increase in Foresight and Turn Meter for two turns if the enemy is above 50 percent health.

  • ‘Masterstroke,’ an AoE special attack that damages all enemies and gives Yoda all the positive buffs an enemy currently has for three turns, ala Kirby in Super Smash Bros.

  • ‘Unstoppable Force,’ a special damage single attack that has a 65 percent chance to remove 40 percent of an enemy’s Turn Meter, in addition to stunning the enemy for one turn if their health is below 50 percent; ‘Battle Meditation,’ a team buff that grants Yoda Tenacity Up for two turns before bestowing each of his squad mates with all the buff he currently has, plus a 40 percent chance of giving himself 30 percent Turn Meter.

  • ‘Grand Master's Guidance,’ Yoda’s leader ability that buffs his squad mates with a 22.5 percent increase in Tenacity, in addition to a 25 percent Turn Meter when they resist a negative buff from the opposing team.

If you’re looking to add Grand Master Yoda to your roster of Jedi, it’s a good idea to start Jedi farming now in anticipation of the Grand Master’s Training Event’s return. Again, the Grand Master Yoda analysis guide is a great place to start for some in-depth explanations of both the event and the new Grand Master character. Even Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes developer /u/swivelmaster piped in and voiced their approval in the thread, saying, “I read this all and took some notes.”
