Star Wars Battlefront will be getting an update just in time for the Rogue One DLC and VR experience release in December. DICE’s Dennis Brännvall recently confirmed as much on Twitter.

When probed about the ETA of the next Star Wars Battlefront patch, Brännvall suggested that the “team is in a good place [considering they are] set to deliver a movie tie-in DLC and our first-ever VR experience.” As for the patch, it will “come with that” extra content.

This will likely be perceived as bad news for current Star Wars Battlefront players who feel the recent state of the game is too glitchy for their liking. Since the October update, certain modes, like Heroes Vs. Villains, are crippled by bugs that make matches borderline unplayable. To worsen the dilemma, longstanding invincibility exploits for cheaters remain unpatched too. Anyone still playing Star Wars Battlefront right now is likely a hardcore fan of its gameplay loop. Those unsolved problems, then, haven’t gone unnoticed.

While the wait for a December update continues, there’s a lot we still don’t know about it. Given the publicity of some of the above-listed issues, DICE is likely on the case with fixes and balance adjustments. With that in mind, the only other thing left to think about is new content. This July we learned that the Rogue One DLC will take players to a planet called Scarif. There will also be two new heroes called Jyn Erso and Director Orson Krennic. Both characters are assumed to have large roles in the Rogue One film. All of it will be available in the game’s season pass, as a standalone download and in the Star Wars Battlefront Deluxe Edition revealed last month.

As for VR, the so-called Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission content slice will be made available for free to all Star Wars Battlefront owners with a PlayStation VR headset. It also ties into the movie in some way, but the specifics have not been discussed in detail.

Star Wars Battlefront is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
