'Sonic The Hedgehog' Movie Gets 'Deadpool' Director, Hope Sega Likes Butt Jokes

Deadpool director Tim Miller split with the sequel over “ creative differences,” but don’t worry, there’s always another IP in need of salvaging. Instead Miller will try and get people to care about Sonic the Hedgehog. It will take all of the butt jokes he can muster.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed Miller and Jeff Fowler, with whom Miller created the Oscar-nominated animated short, Gopher Broke, will develop the Sonic movie, with Fowler directing. Here’s Gopher Broke, which just like Deadpool, turns on jokes about something or someone getting shoved up a butt.

Sonic the Hedgehog may seem like a huge downgrade from the biggest new superhero franchise. It is. But Sony seems determined to spin this one out as big as possible, with Neal H. Moritz, producer of the Fast and Furious franchise also onboard.

Miller’s plan is to unite Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Eggman for a hybrid CG/live-action family film, perhaps suggesting something more in line with the Sonic Adventures game series that saw the hedgehog interacting with human societies.

With Sonic the Hedgehog in early development, there’s not yet a release date, but may I suggest Jan. 12, 2018? A Sonic the Hedgehog vs. Deadpool 2 scenario seems appropriate.
