The latest gameplay video for Sonic Forces is here, showing the classic take on the Blue Blur tackling the reimagined Green Hill Zone. The video from SEGA can be watched above.

Sonic Forces is the latest game to star everyone’s favorite hedgehog. Like Sonic Generations, Sonic Forces will also be split in two, with Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic stages. Classic Sonic stages will be like the video above, a side-scroller that plays like it came straight off a Sega Genesis. Modern Sonic stages are more similar to the Sonic Adventure 3D-style games.

It has also been confirmed there will be a third playable character with a third play-style, but it is unconfirmed who the character is or what kind of gameplay he or she will bring. Personally, I’m hoping for something like the bonus levels from Sonic 2.

Unfortunately, it has also been confirmed that only Sonic will be playable in Sonic Forces. This means players will not be able to take on the roles of Tails, Knuckles, Amy or anyone else. These characters will appear in Sonic Forces , but only as NPCs. Doctor Eggman will also serve as the game’s main villain, having taken over the world with the help of his evil robot army.

Sonic Forces comes to PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch this holiday season. No official release date has been set, but expect this out sometime in late October or November.

So what do you think? Are you excited about the latest Sonic game? Would you like to see a game of just Classic Sonic or are you looking forward to 3D Sonic as well? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
