Sims 4 Saves Gone? Console Bug Costs Players Hours Of Gameplay

A save bug in The Sims 4 for consoles causes the game to freeze on the options menu when you manually save.

The issue occurs when PS4 users try saving the game through the pause menu. After choosing a save file, the game will bring players back to the pause menu without saving. The game will remain stuck on the pause menu, even if you try to click out of it using the options button. The only way to correct the issue is to reboot the console.

Here are the issues some redditors have reported in the PlayStation 4 subreddit:

“Sometimes when I save it gets stuck, pressing start to exit pause it will always pop up pause menu. Can't explain better. Someone else getting this problem? Anytime I have to close the app and when I load the game I notice that has not saved. I lost one fucking hour of gameplay. For the sims it's a lot of time.” - fortesque01

“PSA: DO NOT BUY SIMS 4 FOR PS4. There is a common game breaking bug causing saves to be corrupted and players unable to save. Many players losing hours of gameplay. Fucking EA.” - kzd15

Xbox One users are facing similar save game issues and have reached out to Maxis via the official Sims forum:

“Just tried to save my xbox one game after several hours. It will not save. Please do not tell me that this game is going to be a bag of bugs...”- bela4

“Same problem here and very frustrated! Was able to create two sims and save household in the notebook thing, but game won't let me save and go on. All that time spent and still have not got to "play the game", nor see a house or any of the town. SAVE is so very important!”- rennie

We’ve also experienced the save bug while reviewing The Sims 4 for the PS4. Choosing the save option would prompt us back to the pause menu and freeze the game. The save bug occured several times during our 20+hours of playtime on the PS4. Player.One has reached out to EA for a comment regarding the save bugs and has yet to receive a response.

The Sims team has yet to release a patch to fix the save bug on Xbox One and PS4 consoles. However, The Sims’ team has acknowledged players’ complaints via Twitter and have suggested a temporary workaround while they figure out a permanent solution.

It is an incredibly annoying bug in The Sims 4. There currently isn’t an autosave function for consoles, so be mindful of saving after every big milestone.
