A full, ground-up remake of the PS2 cult classic Shadow of the Colossus will come to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro with more than just a visual upgrade. According to PlayStation Blog , the Shadow of the Colossus remake will also have a new special edition to commemorate the game's lasting influence.

The PlayStation 4 Pro version of the game will allow for two different options of play: Cinematic, which will output at 4K targeting 30fps, and Performance, which will run locked at 60fps. The official PlayStation YouTube channel also shared a comparison video that shows off both modes 4K and 60fps running side-by-side:

Yasutaka Asakura, executive producer of Japan Studio, announced the Shadow of the Colossus Special Edition box set will be rife with both physical and digital goodies for fans to snap up quickly. They'll likely sell out fast, too, given that the Special Edition box set is just $49.99 (versus $39.99 for the standard edition).

The reasonably-priced set is presented with a special edition box, a steelbook collector's case with a printed outer sleeve, postcards, a printed manual, a world map, stickers of each Colossi, and a physical game disc. Digital rewards include in-game items like the Ancient Bow, Cloak of Fate, the "Spotted Steed" Agro skin, two custom PlayStation 4 themes, and a Colossi avatar set.

For just $10 more, the Shadow of the Colossus Special Edition Box Set offers a lot of exclusive content. If you're a big fan of Shadow of the Colossus already, that's a big reason to pick the Special Edition over the standard copy. That, and the fact that these kinds of sets generally sell out before you’re forced to pick them up on eBay for exorbitant prices later on. Best to get in on on the ground floor with this.

The release date for the Shadow of the Colossus PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro remake is set for Feb. 6. There’s a ton of incoming new game releases over the last few months of 2017, so Shadow’s February release should give players just enough time to get through them before embarking on another epic adventure. It's been busy enough that even a remake of a cult classic might be too much for one person's plate, after all.
