Blizzard and Dark Horse Comics will be working together to shed light on the characters of Overwatch. The two companies have announced a partnership that will result in a 100-page Overwatch graphic novel about the original heroes behind Overwatch, as well as a new art book.

Dark Horse has already begun republishing Blizzard’s Overwatch digital comics, which shed light on characters like McCree, Symmetra and Reinhardt. The Overwatch digital comics are available here on Blizzard’s website and through Issue #4 on the Dark Horse website. (Maybe one day we’ll be able to get these in print?) The comics only go up to #7, though Issue #8 is reported to focus on Ana and launches tomorrow, July 21.

Dark Horse will also be publishing the 100-page Overwatch graphic novel in April 2017. The publisher confirmed that this comic will explore the backstory of the original Overwatch strike team, so fans hoping to see more of the complicated relationship between characters like Soldier 76 and Reaper should look forward to that. Neither the title nor the creative team has been announced yet.

Dark Horse will follow up April 2017’s performance with the summer 2017 release of The Art of Overwatch, an oversized hardcover with previously-unseen concept art and illustrations. Blizzard will reveal more in their SDCC panel "Behind the Scenes of Overwatch's Newest Hero," which takes place at 6:30pm PST on Thursday, July 21 in Room 6A.
