2017 could be the year of redemption for Samsung as the Korean electronics giant is prepared to unveil its Galaxy S8 flagship mobile phone. While the Galaxy S8 isn't due until February, or even April, the first leaked images of the new smartphone surfaced on Weibo, known as China's Twitter alternative.

The new device continues to carry Samsung's design cues. As prior reports suggested, the S8 features a near-bezel-less design, similar to the Edge or Note 7. However, there is a notable difference in the new device – the physical home button is gone, which is in line with recent Samsung rumors of a home button and fingerprint scanner relocation to the screen.

Should the Samsung Galaxy S8 not suffer from delays, we expect it to arrive February. That said, rumors of component shortages suggest the phone might not launch until April 18.

Via a report from SamMobile, Samsung is slated to have approximately 10 million S8 smartphones manufactured in March. While Samsung fans are more accustomed to a February release, the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco and the subsequent recall pushed back Samsung's schedule for the Galaxy S8.
