Red Dead Redemption 2 might come to PC, but Take-Two isn't saying Rockstar

Red Dead Redemption 2 is, as of right now, not coming to PC. When asked directly about it, publisher Take-Two did a masterful job of dancing around the subject, delivering a non-answer.

This information comes from an earnings call the publisher hosted recently, by way of GameSpot. According to GameSpot, Take-Two values the PC for some games and not others.

"It really depends on the title. Some titles are actually heavily weighted to PC, for example, Civilization and XCOM, [but] some titles are less weighted to PC," Take-Two President Karl Slatoff said on the call. "The great news is that the PC market is vibrant for us. It's a great market. It's a big market. It's a core market.”

Slatoff continued, "These are consumers who are highly engaged. It's a predominantly digital market, which also removes friction in terms of ongoing engagement with the consumer. So for us, the PC market as a company is very important, very exciting, and something we focus on."

This all sounds really promising for the possibility of more Take-Two games coming to PC, right? Well, the publisher didn’t want to say yes or no. When directly asked about Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to PC, Slatoff said "Any updates about any of our titles will come from our labels."

What does Rockstar have to say on the matter? As seen on the official Red Dead Redemption 2 site, only Xbox One and PS4 logos are on the bottom of the page. This means Rockstar has no current plans to bring Red Dead 2 to PC.

Rockstar has an odd relationship with PC gaming as well. Red Dead Redemption still is not available on PC, and GTA 5 didn’t get a PC release until years after the game released on PS3 and Xbox 360. However, Steam charts show the game is still one of the most-played on the platform, even more than two years after the PC release (and almost four years after initial release). Obviously, there’s a huge market of fans (and their money) on PC that Rockstar would be ignoring by not supporting the platform.

It looks like we’ll just have to wait for Rockstar to make any announcements, seeing as how Take-Two expertly dumped responsibility for a PC release onto the developer.

So what do you think? Do you want to see Red Dead Redemption 2 release for PC? Do you think this will be a repeat no-show like the first Red Dead? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
