Rainbow Six Siege 2.2.2 update arrives Aug. 9 and brings more dedicated servers, new vaulting animation, and a new elite set for Pulse. Ubisoft

Rainbow Six Siege gets its latest 2.2.2 patch for PC, PS4 and Xbox One on Wednesday, August 9. It’s another big patch for the Ubisoft shooter as the devs are wrapping up Operation: Health to make way for the Year 2 Season 3 title update. The major patches include dedicated servers for multiple game modes, a revised vaulting animation, and a brand-new Elite set for Pulse.

First off, Custom Matches were peer-to-peer unless a full lobby of 10 players was established within 10 minutes. With the new 2.2.2 patch, Siege will provide dedicated servers for all Custom Matches with two or more players. Next, Terrorist Hunt Classics will receive dedicated servers as well. Last, but not least, in-game voice chat gets dedicated servers and Vivox integration. Communication and teamwork is necessary and Ubisoft hopes the patch will allow clearer voice communication while taking up less bandwidth. PC will be the first to receive the voice chat patch while console deployment coming later. Unstable servers are still the biggest gripe for Siege players so it’s reassuring to know Ubisoft continues to work on this aspect of the game.

The second major fix in 2.2.2 addresses operator vaulting animation while aiming. The old animation would momentarily move the operator’s arm to climb over, but it causes a problem where enemy players are unable to determine where the vaulter is aiming the gun. In the new patch, the operator’s gun will always point to where it is aimed.

Finally, the 2.2.2 patch will bring some new content as well. Pulse was one of the original operators in Siege, but he’s yet to receive an elite bundle… until now. Pulse’s new swag includes new Mohawk haircut and Lucky Seventh Uniform and features the “Oscillator” weapon skin for the M1014, UMP45, 5.7 USG and M45 Meusoc. The “Wavelength” gadget skin is available for Pulse’s specialty HB-5 Cardiac Sensor. Pulse also gets Elite Pulse Chibi Charm and Slick Victory Animation.

It's a sizable update, but there's a lot more coming in August. Stay tuned as we expect to learn more details about Rainbow Six Siege Year 2 Season 3 title DLC in the coming weeks. The Season 3 update will bring two Hong Kong operators, a new Hong Kong map, as well as one new Poland operator. Earlier this month, we shared details regarding a reddit leak of an alleged Poland GROM defender, complete with weapon details.

For now, check out the patch notes for the Rainbow Six Siege 2.2.2 patch update:
