The first footage of Wentworth Miller’s second fugitive alter-ego, Michael Scofield, is finally here and it’s everything a Prison Break fan could ever want. Earlier this morning, Fox announced Prison Break Season 5 will air early 2017. A surprise trailer followed shortly thereafter, and now it’s confirmed Michael isn’t dead: he’s actually been in prison all along.

We meet Michael’s son, Mike, right off the bat. The young boy is clearly curious about his seemingly dead birth father. Then Lincoln rushes to meet fellow ex-convict and escapee,T-Bag, who hands him a blurry black and white picture of Michael in prison. “Looks like your brother might just be alive,” T-Bag says.

Lincoln goes to visit Michael in prison, and that’s when we get our first look at the tatted heartthrob. Like the previous four seasons, Michael recruits a group of inmates to help him break out. It appears Lincoln intends to use a city blackout as cover, but obviously this isn’t going to go down as planned. The two brothers embrace with a heartfelt hug and Michael cries with relief when they reunite outside the prison. The trailer doesn’t give us any hints as to how Michael’s been stuck in prison this whole time, and unfortunately doesn’t confirm that Michael is suffering from amnesia like early speculation suggests.

In the all-new event series, filmed on location in Morocco, clues surface that suggest a previously thought-to-be-dead Michael may be alive. Lincoln and SARA (Sarah Wayne Callies, “Colony,” “The Walking Dead”), Michael’s wife until he was assumed dead, reunite to engineer the series’ biggest escape ever, as three of Fox River State Penitentiary’s most notorious escapees, SUCRE (Nolasco, “Telenovela”), T-BAG (Knepper, “Heroes”) and C-NOTE (Dunbar, “The Mentalist”), are pulled back into the action.

Prison Break will return to Fox during the 2017 mid-season. The miniseries, featuring 9 episodes, will take Bones ’ Thursday night primetime slot at 9 p.m.
