‘Prison Break’ Season 5 Episode 3 Reveals Michael Turned Escaping Into A Career

Prison Break Season 5 has done a great job treading lightly over how Michael didn’t die, but now we have a pretty good idea about who saved him and what he has been doing. Episode 3 spoilers ahead.

Michael (aka Kaniel) and Whip are working for the CIA breaking people out of prisons across the world.

Apparently, prison-breaking is profession in the Prison Break universe. Michael has been breaking people out of prisons for the CIA for a number of years and Whip is his partner. Now, for some unknown reason, they are stuck in Yemen or the CIA has deserted them in Ogygia. They were supposed to be there for only a week and the escape was all planned out, hence Michael’s tattoos and stash at and old auto shop Lincoln and Sheba found in the city. Abu Ramal, an ISIL terrorist appears to be the person Michael and Whip were supposed to break out, in addition to a gig in Egypt and Colombia before this. The name Kaneil Outis was just a rap sheet made up to get Michael into prison.

Kaniel, Whip and Rick Yune’s character, Ja, get pretty close to escape, but ultimately fail miserably and get cornered on the roof. To make matters worse, Ramal is pissed because Michael ended up leaving him out of the plan to show his loyalty to Whip.

Sara is in danger too. The two agents following her (Marina Bennet’s character), want her to lead them straight to Michael and say he’s tried to (unsuccessfully) contact Sara before. The agents seem to be some sort of spies or assassins hired by the person responsible for Michael’s big cover up. It seems like they want to keep Sara from finding out what happened, while at the same time keeping Michael uner their finger.

Kellerman, who is now heading the US State department, is also suspicious. He showed Sara and Lincoln that video from four years ago where Michael walks out of a cabin to murder a CIA chief Harlan Gaines. But Sara knows things aren’t adding open once she finds out Kellerman made her drink out of a water glass to get her fingerprint to hack her cellphone. Sara is now relying on T-Bag to get as much information about what Kellerman knows as possible.

The good news is that at the end of the episode, Michael sends Sara a video saying he was never Kaniel Outis and all of these lies were for her. The bad news is, the city is about to become a full-on war zone and now that Sehba is hurt and Michael is in solitary, the chances of escape are looking very grim.
