There are rumors floating around that Starz’s mega-hit series, Power , may make the jump to the big screen. Of course, none other than 50 Cent is behind the brilliant idea that would undoubtedly sit well with the 6.5 million viewers who tuned in for each episode of Season 2.

Details about the Power movie first trickled in when 50 Cent and Courtney Kemp sat down for an interview with XXL Mag. The duo said if the movie comes to fruition, it will focus on Kanan’s life in the 10 years before he was sent to prison.

“The Kanan film would offer what happened before Kanan went to jail. We talked about it already. The last beat of the Kanan movie would be the night he got arrested,” 50 Cent said. “We would tell the story that explains what is happening all the way up to the point where Ghost makes the decision to put him inside,” Kemp added.

50 Cent describes the film as a prequel to everything you’ve seen thus far. “You'd see Kanan the teacher, Kanan the older brother...then nine-year-old Shawn and the relationship with his father he barely knows,” Kemp said.

Joseph Sikora, who plays Tommy, also addressed the Power movie rumors during an interview with the New York Post. The actor expanded on 50 Cent and Kemp’s statements about the movie being centered around a series of flashbacks and how Tommy would fit into the story.

“I can’t give away if there are any flashbacks in the show, but [50 Cent] is consistently talking about doing a ‘Power’ movie that is all flashback,” Sikora said. “And there would be different characters playing teenage versions of Ghost, Tommy and [Ghost’s wife] Tasha. There is a back story showing Kanan bringing up Tommy and Ghost in the streets and seeing how Tommy had to negotiate his color living in the hood.”

Kemp reminded fans the film may not come out until after the full run of the series is complete, but doesn’t know since nothing has been officially confirmed.

Power returns July 17.
