In a bit of a surprise, the next playable character in Pokken Tournament is not Empoleon but Croagunk.

During a special NicoNico livestream, Croagunk’s reveal trailer for Pokken Tournament was shown and the once Support Pokemon will now be able to throw down with the rest of the Pokken roster when the arcade version updates on Nov. 10.

Check out Croagunk’s reveal trailer with all of his slick moves below thanks to Bandai Namco.

Croagunk in Pokken Tournament will be a Speed Type that uses a lot of projectiles, including Poison Jabs and Rock Throw.

And for those wondering, the Croagunk Support Pokemon will still be around and you can have Croagunk be supported by another Croagunk.

When the last update for the Wii U version of Pokken Tournament was released, data miners found information for both Scizor and Empoleon as playable characters. Scizor was revealed as a new fighter in October and when a new character reveal was teased again, fans figured it was Empoleon.

Does this mean that Empoleon will come later and, more importantly, that The Pokemon Company and Bandai Namco have more fighters they wish to add to the game? We can only hope so.

There has been no word as to whether these new characters will join the Wii U version as DLC or as a major update but we will update as soon as we learn more.
