On my first playthrough of Pokémon Sun and Moon, I caught a male Salandit at Wela Volcano Park. I was so happy, a little toxic dragon that can poison anything, what’s not to love? I always go through my first Pokémon run without any guides, so I could not figure out why my little Salandit refused to evolve to a Salazzle. I tried leveling it up, giving it every stone and item I could think of and even maxed out its happiness. I still got nothing.

Now I’ve figured out that only female Salandits evolve; my male was going to be stuck puny forever. Finding a female Salandit to evolve isn’t always easy, some people on reddit got so fed up on their journey that they became convinced that it doesn't exist. If you want a Salazzle, the internet has figured out a foolproof way to get one on your team.

Here’s exactly what you need to do to get a female Salandit and Salazzle.

  1. Get a Sylveon With Cute Charm- On the Poké Pelago, click the center tree until a Rainbow Bean drops down. This can take a few tries, since the drop rate is completely random. Once you do this, you can exit out and go to Pokémon Refresh. Feed a MALE Eevee that’s at least level 9, this will not work with a female, the Rainbow Bean and level it up once. Eevees can be found on Route 5. You should now have a Sylveon with Cute Charm. Other fairy Pokémon with Cute Charm will work, but they are much harder to find in Sun and Moon and Eevees tend to be male more than other species.

  2. Head To Wela Volcano Park- Put Sylveon first in your party and head to either Route 8 or Wela Volcano Park. Cute Charm makes Pokémon of the opposite gender more likely to show up, so you have a much better chance of finding a female Salandit.

  3. Train That Salandit- Now, if you’ve followed all these steps, you should have a female Salandit of your own. Train it to level 33 and it will evolve into a glorious Salazzle. Congratulations on your new poison dragon monster!
