Following their appearance at the Pikachu Outbreakchu Pokémon Go event in Japan, reports of Shiny Pikachu have popped up all over the world.

Over on the Silph Road subreddit, a Pokémon Go player from Canada posted their capture of the Shiny Pikachu and confirmed the time stamp and how they were unable to transfer the Shiny Pikachu.

Shiny Pikachu in Pokémon Go don’t look that much different from normal Pikachu. You can notice that Shiny Pikachu has a darker yellow color to them and you can see some sparkles around them to indicate that they are indeed a Shiny Pokémon, but they can easily be mistaken for normal Pikachu.

Trainers looking to catch a Shiny Pikachu in Pokémon Go will have to test their luck by encountering Pikachu in the wild. Like Shiny Magikarp (whose Shiny looks way different from the normal Magikarp), there is a small chance that it will appear to be a Shiny Pokémon but it won’t show up in the overworld, it will only appear when you are attempting to capture it.

There’s currently plenty to do in Pokémon Go. After weeks of the Legendary Birds Articuno, Moltres, Zapdos and Lugia appearing in Raid Battles on different weeks, Niantic announced that the four bird Pokémon will continue to show up in Raid Battles until the end of August.

Mewtwo will also begin to appear in Pokémon Go in a new feature called Exclusive Raid Battles that will notify Pokémon Go players as to which Gym Mewtwo will appear in. Trainers will then have to complete at least one Raid Battle there before Mewtwo arrives to get the invite to attempt to capture the Legendary Pokémon.

It’s still early, but have you had any luck encountering a Shiny Pikachu in Pokémon Go? Let us know when and where you had the fateful encounter in the comments section below.
