Pokémon Go Abra Community Day Set For April 25, Buddy Up Event Begins Tomorrow

Pokémon Go developer Niantic announced that the next community day is set for this Saturday, April 25, starting at 11:00 AM and running until 5:00 PM, local time. This is the same one that was originally scheduled for March, but was rescheduled to this month. That means it’s going to feature none other than the Psi Pokémon Abra. This also serves as the first Community Day: Play at Home Edition.

This week is not only offering a Community Day, but also a Buddy Up Event. It starts tomorrow April 21 at 8:00 AM (local time) and ends on April 27 at 10:00 PM (local time).

Here’s what to expect for this Abra-themed community day:

  • Abra is going to appear more frequently in the wild.
  • Trainers lucky enough could encounter a Shiny Abra.
  • Trainers that evolve Abra during the event, or two hours after, can obtain an Alakazam which comes with an exclusive attack.
    • This exclusive attack is a Fighting-style Fast Attack Counter.
  • A Community Day exclusive Special Research Story titled Investigating Illusions is available to be unlocked.
    • Ticket is available for $1
    • Rewards include:
      • 13,000 Stardust
      • Poffin
      • Rocket Radar

Play at Home Edition

As mentioned, this is the first offering of the Community Day: Play at Home Edition. Here are some of the changes that players can expect with this new feature:

  • Community Day now runs for six hours instead of three hours.
  • Bonus is now 3x Catch Stardust.
  • Instead of Lure Modules, Incense now last for three hours for the duration of the event.
  • Buddy Pokémon that have a Buddy Level of Great Buddy or higher can now bring helpful items.
  • There’s going to be a special one-time purchase of the April Community Day bundle for 1,280 PokéCoins. This bundle includes:
    • Elite Charged TM
    • 30 Ultra Balls
    • Three Super Incubators
    • Three Incense

Buddy Up Event

Here’s what Trainers can expect for this event:

  • Volbeat and Illumise now appear in the wild, Eggs, and even as reward encounters from Field Research tasks.
  • Woobat can now be encountered in the wild and after completing certain Field Research taks.
  • Woobat is going to be available in the wild, as well as 2 km Eggs, once the event is done.
  • These Pokémon are going to appear more frequently in the wild:
    • Alolan Meowth
    • Chansey
    • Eevee
    • Feebas
    • Lilipup
    • Joltik
  • These Pokémon are going to be hatching from 5 km Eggs and at a higher rate:
    • Alolan Meowth
    • Chansey
    • Eevee
    • Lilipup
    • Joltik
  • Event-exclusive Field Research tasks reward Stardust along with encounters with:
    • Alolan
    • Meowth
    • Volbeat
    • Illumise
    • Woobat

There’s also going to be bonuses which include:

  • Buddy Pokémon brings Trainers more surprises more often.
  • Distance to earn Buddy Candy and hearts with buddy is halved.
  • It’s easier for Trainers to get their buddy excited.
  • Trainers who feed their buddy Berries and Poffins have their buddies join them on the map for twice as long.
  • Earn twice the XP for evolving Pokémon.
