'Overwatch's' Zarya Arrives In 'Heroes Of The Storm' To Blow Up Some Omnics

The next hero coming to Heroes Of The Storm is Zarya, the Russian with a mission from Overwatch. Tracer has already been battling on the Rift for a few months now, so it’s time for another one of her allies to join the fight. Zarya is available in Heroes Of The Storm right now, so get ready to use this warrior / tank to blow up some baddies.

The interesting thing about Zarya in HOTS is that her kit is nearly identical to her Overwatch abilities. She can shield herself and allies, launch grenades and wield a particle beam. Her ultimate, sorry, heroic ability is even the same: Graviton Surge, which screws over all enemies stupid enough to step into it.

Zarya has one new ability called Expulsion Zone. It pushes enemies away from the center, doing the exact opposite of Graviton Surge. You have to give credit to Overwatch ’s game designers, they created a kit that’s so fluid and balanced it works in an entirely different game.

Here’s a full rundown of Zarya’s abilities straight from Gamepedia:

Energy Each time Zarya’s Personal Barrier or Shield Ally absorbs 22 (11 + 4 percent per level) damage, her Energy is increased by 1. Each point of Energy increases Zarya’s damage by 2 percent. After 0.5 seconds, Energy decays by 3 per second.

Particle Grenade Launch a particle grenade that deals 136 (65 + 4 percent per level) damage to enemies within the area. Deals 50 percent damage to Structures.

Personal Barrier Gain a shield that absorbs 1228 (583 + 4 percent per level) damage for three seconds.

Shield Ally Grants an allied Hero a shield that absorbs 921 (437 + 4 percent per level) damage for three seconds.

Graviton Surge Launch a gravity bomb that detonates after one second and draws enemy Heroes toward the center for 2.5 seconds.

Expulsion Zone Launch a gravity bomb that deals 272 (129 + 4 percent per level) damage and creates an expulsion zone for 3.5 seconds. Enemies who enter the affected area are knocked back and have their Movement Speed reduced by 50 percent for one second.
