Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey teases a virtual reality battle card game that will be even better than 'Yu-Gi-Oh' Virtual World. Yu-Gi-Oh

Oculus founder Palmer Luckey shared a tweet on Wednesday that teased an upcoming game that is slated to make its way to Oculus VR: "Anyone remember the Virtual World arc of Yu-Gi-Oh? Get ready for something even better!"

Luckey sure knows how to hype a crowd. According to the VR mogul, we are at the cusp of a virtual reality experience that may not only recreates, but even top, one of the greatest cartoon series story arcs of one of the most popular card battle games ever.

In the Yu-Gi-Oh Virtual World arc, the "Big Five" former executives of Kaiba Corp (Gansley, Crump, Johnson, Nezbitt, Leichter) ambush the eight Battle City Finals duelists and force them to participate in a virtual Duel Monsters tournament to seek vengeance against Kaiba and Yugi. Not only was the tournament heavily weighted in The Big Five's favor, but if the protagonists were to lose, then the Big Five would take their bodies in order to escape from the virtual world.

While Luckey did not share additional details regarding the Oculus-based virtual card battle game, he did retweet an interesting post from Oculus international studio boss Jason Rubin: "@PalmerLuckey Excited for this announcement! One of the experiences most "tested" around Oculus Studios..."

Okay, so we still don't know the specifics of said "experience," but we do know that Rubin calls this game "one of the most tested around Oculus Studios," which suggests it may also be one of the furthest in development and one of the closest to completion.

Will Oculus create its own original card game? Or will the developers collaborate with popular establishments like Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, Hearthstone, or Yu-Gi-Oh? Will Oculus offer a "duel disk" of its own? For now, we can only speculate at the many possibilities for the new Oculus card game. Stay tuned as we find out more in the months ahead!
