Ever since Nintendo revealed it was working on a new home console (or is it a handheld device?) codenamed NX, there have been seemingly countless rumors about its design, functionality and everything in between. Wednesday, during its earning call, Nintendo announced the Nintendo NX release date as March 2017.

Zelda Wii U will be the NX's launch title and Zelda Wii U is launching on the Wii U and NX simultaneously.

“As we report the results of the last fiscal year, we also look forward to an exciting period ahead with further growth in our mobile business, new products for our dedicated video game systems and continued progress in our efforts to increase the number of consumers experiencing our IP through games, licensing and expanded entertainment,” said Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima.

Nintendo promised that that there will be more information on the NX before June 2016, presumably before E3, and it delivered...probably not in the way fans would have hoped but the first information on the NX is actually a release date.

However, fans will have to wait until after E3 for any more information on the Nintendo NX because the console will not be at the trade show in Los Angeles this year but will actually be unveiled later this year.

No date for the official unveiling of the Nintendo NX was given but it could be in the Fall as they announce a price drop for the Wii U to get a last minute push to the unit before the NX debuts in 2017 but that’s just speculation at this point.

What do you guys think of the Nintendo NX release date? Will you wait for the new console or get it when it first launches? Sound off in the comments section below.
