Bandai Namco debuted new Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom footage ahead of the project’s next gamescom appearance. The trailer is incredibly light on information but does include small segments of gameplay captured throughout the Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom campaign.

The lack of new information about the world/story of Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom continues a trend throughout August. Earlier this month, Bandai Namco announced a pair of limited versions of the game, including the $200 Collector’s Edition that includes with a rotating diorama and other physical (and digital) goodies. The publisher did publish 30 minutes of new Ni no Kuni 2 footage back in July. But the news cycle moves fast these days and people expect to see new footage/information a bit more frequently in 2017.

The good news is that this week’s Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom trailer features a smidgen of new gameplay. It also features several party members from King Evan’s party, along with a bit of video from two fights that we’d assume (based on experience levels) are set early in the NNK2 campaign. But the trailer doesn’t have any particular focus, like the videos we’ve seen for Absolver in recent weeks, and doesn’t tell us anything about Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom we didn’t know already. It’s a great video to have running on screens at a convention booth, just not quite as interesting for those watching at home instead in the line for a demo station.

For an early look at a Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom, take a few minutes to watch the gamescom trailer embedded at the top of the page. Then head down to the comments and let us know if you’re planning to check out Ni no Kuni 2 when the game debuts early next year.

Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom is in development for PlayStation 4 and PC. The game is scheduled to debut Jan. 19, 2018.
