In addition to steady announcements regarding the features in NHL 18 , EA Sports also announced beta testing will soon be available for excited fans of the game. While registration is still ongoing, EA Sport released new details regarding the beta.

The beta for NHL 18 will reach both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and is set to begin on July 25 and run through Aug. 1. Players will have three modes to choose from to play: NHL Threes, EA Sports Hockey League, and Online Versus. According to EA Sports, the beta will be the only chance for fans to play the game before its release in September.

The mode that everyone is looking forward to most is NHL Threes. Over the last few years, three-on-three hockey has become more and more popular. The NHL uses three-on-three for their regular season overtimes and their All-Star Game for the last two years. Due to its popularity, EA Sports is introducing it to NHL 18 and it could be a welcomed change of pace for players. The action gets faster as you have fewer people on the ice, which means more offense and bigger hits. Think about this also – there is no icing, no offsides in NHL Threes. What’s more, every penalty will result in a penalty shot. The stakes are higher and it makes for exciting hockey.

EA Sports Hockey League has become one of the most popular modes in EA Sports NHL. This mode allows you and friends to create a team and take other teams online. While some aspects of this mode will be limited in the beta, players will still be able to play for games, including the newly added three-on-three option in EASHL.

Registration is still open for the NHL 18 beta and you can apply by clicking here.
