This 'Force Awakens' scene between Rey and Luke Skywalker seems almost certain to carry over to 'Star Wars: Episode 8'

Once again, leaked photos from the set of Star Wars: Episode 8 have revealed the site of a production design at Pinewood Studios in England. Some guys (probably) snuck onto the set and snapped a bunch of photos that showcase the fastest ship in the galaxy, the Millennium Falcon, in all its glory. Even more intriguing is where the Falcon is parked – it looks to be the location of the “first” Jedi Temple that Luke Skywalker was in search of prior to The Force Awakens.

These Episode 8 photos were posted on Making Star Wars via Imgur. Before you decide to close the page in skepticism, take a look at the gallery below, particularly the very first picture:

First, notice the steps. These are clearly the exact staircase that Rey climbed to find Luke at the end of The Force Awakens. In the film, this area is located on the planet Ahch-To, where the aforementioned Jedi Temple was said to be situated. So, where is the Jedi Temple? Direct your attention to that large, Dagobah-esque tree in the background. We, along with the typically-credible Making Star Wars, believe this is the base of the lost Jedi Temple.

What this means is that this set is likely being utilized as a continuation of The Force Awakens’ final shot. With the Falcon positioned right near the foot of the stairs, it only makes sense for that climactic scene to recommence from the moment Rey hands the lightsaber to Luke Skywalker.

And with reports of Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley and Peter Mayhew (dressed in the Chewbacca suit) currently on set together, it’s not difficult to piece the puzzle together. All of the required characters are involved in this scene.

The only question remaining is what exactly goes down during this sequence, especially with Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) on set with the above trio as well. That, we won’t find out for sure until Dec. 15, 2017 when Star Wars: Episode 8 finally arrives in theaters.
