Monster Hunter fans continue to pore over the latest addition to the franchise, hunting the biggest, scariest creatures they can find in Monster Hunter: World and dragging the remnants back to Astera to fashion new equipment. But most fans don’t have the luxury of playing MHW all day, every day. Thankfully, Capcom is making it easier to get your monster hunting fix while you’re away from your console, via a new Monster Hunter: World video series that takes fans behind-the-scenes.

The series began in late January, but (like many players) we’ve been far too busy squeezing a few minutes of Monster Hunter: World into every free period in our day, and that doesn’t leave much time for browsing YouTube. But Capcom’s new video series is nothing if not evergreen content. The first video, which features commentary from MHW producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Yuyu Tokuda, spends a few minutes to explore the construction and development of Monster Hunter: World’s environments. The video also lets fans see motion capture for some creatures and hear more about Capcom’s goals when it broke ground on the latest addition to the series.

The second and third videos get even more granular than the first. Capcom followed its first video with a behind-the-scenes look at the design process, including some surprising data about the real-world items it used for Foley. For example, did you know the Monster Hunter team used umbrellas to mimic the sound of flapping wyvern wings? In fact, World sound designer Hideki Hosoi says they used so many umbrellas for Foley work (many breaking from repeated use) that they started using stragglers from the company’s lost and found. Finally, the third video explores the inspirations behind the game’s creature and equipment designs.

Monster Hunter: World is available on PS4 and Xbox One. A PC port debuts this fall.
