New 'Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV' Trailer; Theatrical, Digital, DVD Release Dates Revealed [VIDEO]

A new English-language trailer has been released for Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, the CG companion movie to Final Fantasy XV. This is the first time fans can enjoy the vocal talents of Sean Bean, Aaron Paul and Lena Headey as King Regis of Lucis, Nyx of the Kingsglaive and Lunafreya of Tenebrae. The plot of the new movie is described below:

“The magical kingdom of Lucis is home to the sacred Crystal, and the menacing empire of Niflheim is determined to steal it. King Regis of Lucis (Sean Bean) commands an elite force of soldiers called the Kingsglaive. Wielding their king’s magic, Nyx (Aaron Paul) and his fellow soldiers fight to protect Lucis. As the overwhelming military might of the empire bears down, King Regis is faced with an impossible ultimatum – to marry his son, Prince Noctis to Princess Lunafreya of Tenebrae (Lena Headey), captive of Niflheim, and surrender his lands to the empire’s rule. Although the king concedes, it becomes clear that the empire will stop at nothing to achieve their devious goals, with only the Kingsglaive standing between them and world domination.”

Release dates for Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV in various formats are as follows :

  • Limited theatrical NA release: Aug 19

  • Digital download: Aug 30

  • Blu-ray/DVD: Oct 4

  • Part of Final Fantasy XV Deluxe, Ultimate Collector’s Editions: Sept 30

The fully CG-animated Kingsglaive will be released worldwide as part of a media blitz including the Brotherhood anime and Justice Monsters Five mobile game , all meant to celebrate the release of the long-awaited next installment in the iconic Final Fantasy series. Final Fantasy XV debuts stateside Sept. 30.
