Up to now, most of the Fargo Season 3 TV spots and trailers have been all about the darkly comic mood of the FX series. A giant inflatable Santa gets shot in one. Another is all about the automatic door at a grocery store. But the latest video from Fargo Season 3, a “Cast Spotlight,” finally focuses on the new season’s impressive roster of characters.

This latest Fargo trailer has a couple lines from Carrie Coons (Gone Girl) as police chief Gloria Burgle, plus introduces characters played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane), MIchael Stuhlbarg (Boardwalk Empire) and Jim Gaffigan.

For my money, nothing tops David Thewlis’ (Professor Lupin, Naked, that creepy laughing guy at Maude’s apartment in The Big Lebowski) line reading on “you’re trapped.” But the real attention grabber is likely to be Ewan McGregor’s dual performances as Ray Stussy and his brother Emmit, the Parking Lot King of Minnesota.

The plot of Fargo Season 3 revolves around the sibling rivalry between Ray and Emmit. Ray, jealous of his brother’s success, “follows a twisted path that begins with petty theft but soon leads to murder, mobsters and cut-throat competitive bridge,” according to the official synopsis.

Showrunner Noah Hawley compared the latest season of Fargo to The Big Lebowski at 2017’s SXSW.

Fargo s eason 3 premieres April 18, 2017.
