None of the above changes drastically change how athletes play in-game, but there are some pretty strong movers. Kyrie Irving’s first season with the Celtics has earned him three points so far, pretty impressive considering most other +3 adjustments were offered to more average players with OVRs hovering in the 70s. It’s also hard to ignore that LeBron James, the game’s best player at launch, gets even better with a staggering 98-point rating.

2K didn’t get quite as aggressive on the negatives. There are 18 athletes being docked two points including Carmelo, Turner, George and Cousins, but skilled players like that definitely have the ability to level off as the season carries on. This is certainly an interesting update to consider, but there’s nothing in it that feels insanely uneven.

NBA 2K18 is available now on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Switch and PC. The roster update is available now.

NBA 2K18 PS4 Review - Great Basketball With A Price
The action is fun and fluid, but the VC grind gets its grubby hands on everything and takes the shine off that noteworthy achievement.
  • Great basketball mechanics
  • Easy for new players to learn
  • MyGM's story content is a great starting point for the future.
  • The Neighborhood social hub feels empty and pointless
  • Microtransactions ruin what would otherwise be a fun experience
  • MyCareer story is a bit dull
