NBA 2K18 player ratings have arrived via Twitter for Dwyane Wade and LeBron James. As two of the league’s best players, you can imagine how high those overall stats might be. While slowing down a bit in recent years, Wade has earned an 87 and James has been honored with a 97. As far as we can see, that makes James the best player in the game so far.

Of course, Wade can’t be too mad, considering the All-Time Teams ratings 2K also revealed. Retro Dwyane got a 97 there, while special edition cover star Shaquille O’Neal was given an 89. We also know the ‘96 Heat and ‘98 Knicks will have fully playable rosters. As for that Lakers All-Time team, it predictably features Shaq, Kobe, Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Good luck with any of those matchups. It’s going to be a blast to lace up with folks like Alonzo Mourning, Rex Chapman and Latrell Sprewell.

In terms of analysis, LeBron has been controversially bumped up one point from 2K17’s overall stat, and it puts him ahead of NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant, despite KD’s championship victory. As for Wade, he’ll likely play identically to last year’s model considering his overall rating is the exact same. In terms of that one point difference between LeBron and Durant, it’s probably not worth worrying about. Their stats are basically equal at around 27 points per game, so what you’re getting there will be awesome either way. LeBron’s longer legacy in the league may be what’s pushed him over the top.

As the launch of NBA 2K18 approaches, we’re learning more and more about the intricacies of its final player roster. There’s nothing too surprising here considering it’s only been a handful of months since the last game, but if you’re a MyTeam junkie, that kind of number crunching can matter if you’re trying to set up the best possible roster. There may be at least one other player with a 96+, but we don’t expect too many major surprises from here on out.

After all, we’re just weeks away from the release of the PS4 and Xbox One Prelude demo on Sept. 9. While last year’s demo took players through a college career, we’ve received word that the 2K18 version is going to be a bit different. Especially if it involves NBA rosters, 2K is going to need those overall stats finalized and reported to fans. With the full reveal of King James, it would appear down is the only way to go.

NBA 2K18 PS4 Review - Great Basketball With A Price
The action is fun and fluid, but the VC grind gets its grubby hands on everything and takes the shine off that noteworthy achievement.
  • Great basketball mechanics
  • Easy for new players to learn
  • MyGM's story content is a great starting point for the future.
  • The Neighborhood social hub feels empty and pointless
  • Microtransactions ruin what would otherwise be a fun experience
  • MyCareer story is a bit dull
