The special ESL Kombat Kast showed off the first live gameplay of the latest DLC character in Mortal Kombat X, Triborg.

Triborg is a special character in Mortal Kombat X as the ninja cyborg will have a fourth variation as opposed to the traditional three. Triborg will add the Cyber Sub-Zero variation to the arsenal that includes, Smoke, Cyrax and Sektor.

Not much was said of Cyber Sub-Zero but here’s the quick clip of the new variation thanks to MKIceandFire .

And while the Kombat Kast has come and gone, the in-depth look at each variation could still be analyzed and that’s what we’ll do.

CYRAX VARIATION

The Cyrax Variation for Triborg brings all the utility of normal Cyrax back to Mortal Kombat. Players can use the patented bombs from far, mid or close range. The EX versions will pop the opponent in the air to set them up for kill combos.

Triborg in his Cyrax Variation will also have the buzzsaw that will be a mid attack and can be really used to finish off combos.

Cyrax will have an air grab that will slam the opponent to the ground when it lands. Use the EX and the slam will give an additional bounce to continue a combo.

And lastly, Cyrax’s energy net is back that will ensnare opponents long enough for you to start a combo. The EX version will even drain the bar and last longer.

To see the Cyrax variation in action, take a look at MKIceandFire’s video below.

SEKTOR VARIATION

Sektor’s specials include his straight missile attack and if you EX the input you’ll get three missiles that curve around to have a wider range of attack.

Back rockets are also a part of Sektor’s arsenal that launch and drop on an enemy from above. You can direct the missiles to be behind or in front of the opponent if you want to try and predict your opponent’s next move.

If you meter burn your missile it will become homing and inflict chip damage.

Sektor has his teleport punch back that lets the cyborg disappear into the floor and uppercut from underneath where the opponent is standing. Perform an EX of this move and it will give an extra bounce for a combo starter.

A new move for Sektor is an air dash that can help you avoid attacks or hit an airborne target. This can only be done in the air.

SMOKE VARIATION

The Smoke variation was described as a hybrid between the human Smoke from MK9 and the classic cyborg Smoke that was in MK 3 Ultimate. And the first special shown was the spears that draw you in (similar to Scorpion). If you EX this move, it will not pull them in but instead give them a jolt of electricity for you to capitalize with another move.

From MK9, the Smoke variation will bring back the smoke bombs that will drop your opponent from the sky. You can direct where this bomb goes, either close mid or far.

The air throw from MK9 returns, allowing you to attack airborne opponents.

Smoke also has a move that has him stomp the enemy from above. If you EX this move, Smoke will stomp an opponent to the floor and then flip them into the air to start a combo.

Smoke can also phase through opponents but this will drain stamina. But if you EX this move, you will go invisible.
