We are about one month away from the release of MLB The Show 17. As the time draws closer to the game’s release, more information is being released almost daily. One of the highlights leading up to MLB The Show’s release is Gamestop’s MLB Mondays every week.

What Gamestop’s MLB Mondays does is tease some the new features that MLB The Show 17 will bring. This week was all about something called “The Little Things,” which shines the spotlight on many things that could overlooked by fans. There were so many small things that Sony added into MLB The Show 17 , Gamestop had to create two separate videos for these aspects of the game.

There are three things that stood out from the two MLB Mondays videos for MLB The Show 17 . Let’s start with the classic stadiums.

More Classic Stadiums Need To Be Added

One of the highlights of the Gamestop video was the announcements for the PS4 debuts for Metrodome, Shea Stadium and Yankee Stadium. While this was a pretty cool addition to MLB The Show 17 , one minor complaint has always been the lack of classic stadiums in the game.

Stadiums like Ebbets Field has never been seen in baseball games and it's one of those stadiums that players would love to play in. Obviously, the rationale for not including those stadiums could be getting the rights to include it in the game, but there are stadiums that Sony could get the rights for and put in MLB The Show 17 . For the next edition of MLB The Show , more classic stadiums must be included. It’s nice to have 20 minor league stadiums, but is the Polo Grounds too much to ask?

Ken Griffey Jr. Interjecting In Retro Mode

This addition is going to take some getting use to. In Retro Mode, the graphics switches to a old-school 16-bit look with a very curious element. Ken Griffey Jr. will make what seems to be random comments throughout your Retro Mode games. While it will be good to hear “The Kid” respond to what is going on in the game, the amount of clips recorded will be very important.

The addition of Griffey’s comments has the possibility of becoming the one of the more annoying features in 2017. If enough material was canned for Retro Mode to make Griffey’s comments less frequent, this could work. If the same comments are being heard over and over again, then Griffey will become one of the most hated people in sports gaming. It will be very interesting to hear how this will work.

Pitching Improvements

A complaint from some fans of MLB The Show has been pitching. Major improvements has been made with batting over the last few editions of The Show , but pitching seems to have stayed pat. In MLB The Show 17 , pitching finally gets its improvements.

New art for pitchers along with feedback on pitches is something is comparable to the many batting stances and swings that are included in MLB The Show. Also a fix that was made was a change to AI logic for pitcher substitutions. When playing the CPU, pitcher substitutions occurred at the oddest times and ultimately many games are lost by the CPU due to their inept managerial decisions. This change could make games more competitive for players, which may or may not make players happy.
